Es ist das Ergebnis jahrelanger eigenen Forschungen, an einigen Stellen erg\u00e4nzt durch die grossartigen Arbeiten engagierter Philatelisten wie George Barbe, Willibald Becker, Karl End, Julius M\u00fcller und Paul Staedel, deren empfehlenswerte Werke heute \u2013 wenn \u00fcberhaupt \u2013 nur noch antiquarisch erh\u00e4ltlich sind.<\/p>\n<p>Das Werk bietet als Einstieg eine ausf\u00fchrliche Einleitung mit Kapiteln zur Geschichte der Briefmarkenausgabe SAAR I, zur deren Herstellung, zu den einzelnen Werten, den Bildmotiven, den weiteren Ausgaben und den verschiedenen vorkommenden Abweichungen. Im Hauptteil des Handbuchs sind die rd. 1&#8217;900 Feldmerkmale beschrieben und durchgehend farbig illustriert.
